This month’s local highlight is celebrating ten years in Charlotte this month! Congratulations, U.S. National Whitewater Center, and thank you for coming to Charlotte! The big celebration is scheduled for August 13th, 2016, and will start at 9:30am with stand up paddle board yoga and there is a ton of fun planned for the day. You can compete in one of the bike challenges or the corn hole tournament. If you prefer to lounge, you can enjoy music, craft beer and food.
If you’ve never been to this local highlight, know that there is so much to do here besides whitewater rafting. They have zip lines, rope courses, activities on the river, bike trails, climbing wall, concert stage, restaurant, excellent craft beer selection. They host River Jam on Thursdays and Saturdays during the summer months, featuring a different band every week. River Jam is a great way to chill and enjoy a great band but to also enjoy the sights and sounds of people playing around the park.
The whitewater center offers different pass levels for whatever you love to do. If you just like to go and bike or walk the trails or maybe enjoy the restaurant and a band, there is a parking pass that has an annual pass option. I highly recommend it, as parking is $5 per car otherwise.
